    AGMAT France

Hi, no painted miniatures today... No, today I share with you all my archives about AGMAT France! This small French company was the french connexion of Games Workshop during the 80's and was in charge to translate English products of GW to the French gamers. In the early 90's this company became GW France. AGMAT worked on Hordes Sauvages rules (Ravening Hordes), Le Herault Citadel magazine(Citadel Journal) and Chaos fanzine (Black and White short magazine). In France during 80's, the only way to find some news about Citadel miniatures and Games Worshop was to buy French Role Playing Games magazines... Until AGMAT France was born . The AGMAT touch was they added their own painted miniatures to their translation, of course, the skills of the French painters studio was far from their partners of Nothingham studio but these pics converted a lot of young gamers to the fantasy wargaming during this period, me the first!

The WHFB 2nd ed was tranlated in 1986, Hordes Sauvages (Ravening Hordes) was translated in 1988. The difference with the English edition, is that you can find some new rules to play like the 3rd ed (Yep! the 3rd ed was never translated). French gamers played to warhammer with this wargame system until 1992.
Miniatures are painted by the AGMAT studio. The Fortress is awesome dont you think? Click on the pics and download them for better resolution.

Le Herault Citadel, six issues since April 1986 to November 1988. It was an irregular magazine equivalant to the Citadel Journal. You can find the Citadel Catalogues and a lot of articles about miniatures painting, WHFB scenarios, RpG scenarios (WH, AD&D, Stormbringer...), Additionnals rules for Talisman, Space Hulk, Adeptus Titanicus. , some articles about new races like Skaven, Fimir, ... And some colored pages with miniatures painted by the French studio. Download all the issues here, good reading!

    Generosity or sport business?

Today, I am going to tell you of a surprising story … A story of generosity in the ruthless world of BloodBowl. It concerning my Orc team, since the beginning of the league (in my club) my Boyz vegetates in bottom of ranking but the truths shame for me it is miserable score of only 5 casualties! And for a good reason, I have no money to buy a Troll to my team. A real drama for my boyz!!Troll's absence is really the reason of this bad score? I don’t know but this situation moved a lot of people in my club.
I give you explanation, some coachs of the league showed an interest to possess a marker "stunned / prone" identical to mine. The crowd (or I…) suggested to selling markers to finance the purchase of a Troll. After a long discussion with the commissioner of league (in fact, my first customer) he authorized me to issue an appeal to donations. Only 10.000gc for a marker and 20.000gc for a painted marker. In a few hours I reached the sum of 110.000po and I been able to buy my Troll. Nice business, no? Sorry... Nice story, no?

8 markers ordered : 3 painted and 5 unpainted. To realise them, I created an original and I produced  a mould in green  stuff.

    Bloodbowl stuff !!

A last message on Blood Bowl, today, I am going to present you a small project which I have in mind for almost 2 years. In fact, I have no idea of the utility of these helmet but I absolutely wanted to make it. I think of using it as Turn marker or simply as luck talisman on the pitch.

It’s a pocket football helmet (7€ on eBay) modified with some stuff green, I chose the oldschool model to approach as much as possible to the Blood Bowl helmets 1st / 2nd. I added a headband on the eye of the sun, it Is a reminder for my Orcland Raiders (you can find them here). Concerning the paint, I took care of aging as much as possible these helmet. The final touch is the badge of my local club “Blitz57”.
Orcland Raiders hymn lyrics (by Nice cube)

Raider Nation, Are you ready for some Blood Bowl?
You ain't ready for the Blood Bowl!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
You ain't ready for them Orcland Raiders
It's the invasion of them Orcland Raiders
Are you ready for this Blood Bowl?
You ain't ready for this Blood Bowl.

    Blood Bowl : Orc team

Let us finish the year with a few Blood Bowl! I’m member of a club where meets of numerous players of Blood Bowl, a league is organized every year and for this new season, I decided to play an Orc team.

This team sleeps in a cardboard box since 4ans, I tried to sell it but unsuccessfully. Finally, I am very happy to have preserved it because these figurines are very nice to paint. The colors of this team are the ones famous " Orkland Raiders ". Yellow / black / green is a very good association of colors, I simply added a touch of white to increase the US Football spirit!

For the curious! I painted these 18 models in exactly 4 weeks . I started by glue/paint the bases and undercoat every models. After that, I painted all model one buy one . One buy evening except the Ogre : 2 hours for an Orc,1 hour for a Goblin and 6 hours for the Ogre.

These models are sculpted at the end of the 80s (Blood Bowl 2nd), maybe you noticed it, we find many postures of Ork Rogue Trader of the same period. These models are the emblem of Blood Bowl of this period, they are timeless and don’t age. I have a single regret concerning these orcs, line men are too ugly! I slightly modified 2 catchers to obtain 2 Linemen, tastier for me like this. You will also notice that I added the figurine of Oldhammer Day on 2014 (Thank you JB), I sculptured a new hand and I replaced his scepter. So, he’s my Turn marker and Chearleaderl is my ReRoll marker.

Orc’s Big Guyz is traditionally the Troll but I absolutely wanted to paint this Ogre of Jes Goodwin (Blood Bowl 1st), I play it in "count as” Troll. This figurine is brilliant, its posture is massive, its armor has a lot of style. His shoulder strap looks like a Chaos Warriors shoulder of the same period. With several layers of armors and many rivets!

During Blood Bowl game, it’s necessary to put down models on the ground, I don’t want to ruin the painting work on this Ogre, so, I created a marker"Prone/Stunned ". In this way, when the ogre is put down  on the ground I replace it by this marker.
