Hey guys! Cry Havoc basics scenarios are ran on 2 different hexes maps which can be used together or stand alone. These maps are 'The village' and 'The crossroads', each map bring its own specificity to the game and can be joined to each other by any side.Yellow ground color of the maps is quite specific to this game and its range. The point for me was to transfer this 2D game into a 3D playable version.
The Village and the Crossroad maps : Regarding the ground, instead to apply standard modelling ways for wargame table (sand with PVA glue), I used a rubber mat from Deep Cut Studio
(Link) with hexagonal 1 inch grid, 50% of transparent. It save me a lot of time and the overall outcome is quite satisfying for me. The rubber mat is glued on 9mm thick Depron (extruded polystyrene) sheet. It self glued on 2mm cardboard sheet. Elevations as The Hill and The Village are as well set up on 9mm Depron sheet.
Buildings :
Village buildings are integrated in the game and can be visited by the models, so the roofs are removable and hexes are also represented in each building. The resin building models were sold by the same brand then the 15mm miniatures, not as a whole set but sold individually. They are supposed be the representation of XIIIth century EU village building. I painted them as much as possible close of two picture I found on the web. No frech yellow tatched roof, I prefer an old brown grey ich one with a touch of moss on top of it. The five buildings are set up on a central piece which one lock both Depron trays of the Village map.
