SAGA : Viking Longship and fatigue tokens

Return on my Viking's Warband, I missed the famous "Viking longship" To complete my collection. I found what I am looking for to Revell which proposes an effective and cheap boat (25 €). The assembly and the paint are rather simple, a pleasant surprise waits for you in the box, it contains glue and paints.
The kit proposes too many shields to my taste,  in account 64 rooms for 32 oars … I finally used the rest of my Foundry shields… they are more detailed. I put only 8 because I consider that the occupants of the boat have just landed, same think for the sail that I chose to fold up before the landing. I believe that the most complicated with this model was ropes … A lot of patience to assemble them.

To finish, I bought some Norman Crusaders casualty from Perry Miniatures range. With a beard and long hair in green stuff, they make of perfect Viking Fatigue tokens.
    Go to Lindisfarne or Zapotec?

    Viking warband, SAGA !

From the fury of the Norsemen, O Lord deliver us! Hi, today I am going to present you my Viking warband for  SAGA rule. yep, a small pause with the heroic fantasy, SAGA rules are really easy to learn and that exactly what I need at the moment!
I bought these models on the Foundry Miniatures web store, ex Citadel (F8 Vikings, men at arms), 60£ for 33 figurines (6 points SAGA). A jarl, 12 Hirdmen, 4 Berserks and 16 bondi. It’s probably not the best choice of units for this faction but I hadn’t want to paint more, I admit I am little bit lazy at the moment!

I am not a specialist of this period of the history, I don’t know which are colors used for clothes during this era. I thus opted for autumnal, discreet colors. Brown, green and Grey. Only the Jarl and his brother have some red, blue and white on their clothes. These 9 colors arise from the range Citadel, I highlighted them only with beige color.
I realized this band in the 3 weeks. An evening for basing the band, then one evening to paint bases. The scale of this minis is a small 25mm, three colors are sufficient by elements. Which allows to go rather fast, approximately 40 minutes to paint a model and 25 minutes to paint a shield.

An attractive element in a Viking warband is their shields. During a game, they catch the eye of your opponent. It’s thus necessary to take care of them! Here no décals, I chose simple geometrical forms. Some war damages and dirty marks proofs of a long raid on the Norman coast! The banner also has its central role in this war band, its shape is atypical and represents a crow of the god Odin.
