    SIEGE : Wargame show

Hi! This week end, I participated to a local wargame show and ran a huge game of Siege (and Cry Havoc) with my gaming partner Alex, thank to him! We played the 6th scenario from Siege box named 'Retreat', this scenario is split in 2 parts.

The first part of the game simulate the retreat of troops and peasants from local baron during a raid from a rival duke. The aim is to let enter in the castle the maximum of food supplies and troops in order to stand as long as possible during up coming Siege.

Between both scenario parts, gaming  maps are re organized. The village is the center of the first part and the Castel will be the center of the last parts.

    First part : Retreat!
Alex my opponent fine tune his battle plan
    .
Local baron troops reach the village with mules and sheep, peasants are in their houses and start the retreat to the castel.

Rivals Knights and Squires charge !

Peasant pull his chariot with supplies as fast as possible!

Squires and peasants from local Baron cover courageously the retreat of their fellows

All the food supplies reached the castle! The siege will beguin soon.

    Second Part : Castle Siege
Besieging army set up a camp in front of the castle

After 40 days of siege, they built trebuchets, catapults, ladders, Mantelets, siege tower and filled the moat in two locations

North East wall was pounded and ruined. Half of the besieged troops are mobilized to protect this breach.

Siege tower start is relentless advancing to the walls.

6 groups of besiegers put in place ladders and started to climb to the top of the walls. The castle is besieged by all directions.

Crossbowmen protected by their mantelets harass the troops which protect the breach

Rival Knights finish their day in front of the breach. The sun goes down and the siege come to an end. Besiegers lost too much troop during this assault and decide to stop definitely the siege.
