    CRY HAVOC

Hey readers ! Cry Havoc project is on my desk since few weeks now. I’m sure you played this game in the 80’s, if it not the case, you missing a huge classic wargame. In few words, it’s a Medieval skirmish game that deal with single knights, crossbowmen, etc…, in a manner which reproduces warfare in the early Medieval world.

Edited en 1981 Cry Havoc have simple rules, scenarios, hexes maps and cardboard models nicely illustrated by the excellent Gary Chalk. One of the remarkable thing is that every model have 4 different illustrated health states (Good health, wounded, stunned and dead) with associated adjusted Skills values. Gary's artworks have a significative part of this game game success.

    Playing Cry Havoc with miniatures

The first scenarios booklet was edited in 1984, this supplement contain 6 extra scenarios and rules for playing with miniatures in replacement of the cardboard models.

Metal models were distributed by Eurogames (15mm) with sculpted miniatures inspired by original Gary Chalk illustrations. Three boxes of metal miniatures to cover the whole range of cardboard models. Box1 Knigts, Box2 Men at Arms and Box3 Peasants. The 5 village houses available as well in resin casting.

All these models are quite collectors and very hard to find on the market. I collected them since several years and I'm still looking for the Box3 Peasants, if any one have it and want to sell it... I'm very interested.

Note : Standard Miniatures distributed Cry havoc models as well in 25mm scale. These miniatures aren't designed by using original artworks of G.Chalk.

Additional rules for playing with figures
Standard Miniatures range for Cry Havoc 25mm

    Cry Havoc project
The goal is twofold, a modelling project coupled to a gaming project. Indeed, the rules are so easy to handle and learn then I can play this game with my youngest child (8 yo). We already played the standard scenarios from original box... Young boys love Medieval period...
Regarding modelling aspect the aim is to replace all the 2D boardgame elements by 3D wargame elements :  Metal Figures, buildings and terrain. The miniatures are now painted (Blog post incoming) and I currently work on the buildings. See you soon!

    5. I LOVE this game. I played it a lot with my father, and especially the samurai expansion, we played all those scenarios !
I knew they were some minis to play it but i didn't knew the buildings... my father actually gave them to me but I had no idea they were coming from Cry Havoc :O

About it, did you know some one made a "v2" ? Rules are much better in my opinion. I bought Sherwood version and have absolutely no regret !
